Ossur seeks a mechanical engineer with background in materials technology and structural analysis. Experience in working with mechanical parts design is highly valued. Good knowledge of working with 3D design programs is required.
Job description
The applicant is supposed to support a mechatronics team working on new designs and manufacturing transfer issues. Then applicant must be able to draft up ideas and provide 3D models of concepts for structural analysis or prototype manufacturing.
Experience of machine parts design, materials technology, different materials handling etc. is preferable.
The applicant my be expected to work with design subcontractors on rapidly developing new modules or components for new or existing products. Supervising testing of these components will in some cases be the responsibility of said applicant and knowledge of testing methods and reporting is preferable.
Education
MSc. Degree in mechanical engineering preferred, BSc is acceptable if supported by relevant work experience
Experience
The applicant should have some experience with 3D modeling and computational structural analysis. This experience may be from academic work or from working for engineering or a manufacturing company.
Connections with universities will be valued.
Previous experience with working with manufacturers in design and manufacturing transfer is highly valued.
Language knowledge
The Ossur company language is English. Therefore the applicant must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Communication in writing is more important than verbal skills.
Since the job will include communication with Chinese manufacturers, fluent Mandarin is a requirement for verbal communication as well as reading of Chinese text.
Computer knowledge
The applicant must have good knowledge of the following programs (or similar)- Solidworks (or pro E)
- Analysis packages such as ANSYS
- MS Excel
Special skills
The applicant should be communicative and able to transform ideas into computer models or prototypes.
